SSI is usually about as predictable as it gets. First of the month, like clockwork. But when the 1st falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, the Social Security Administration doesn’t make you wait until Monday. They push the payment to the last business day before it instead.
That’s what’s happening in August. Your payment isn’t early because someone’s being generous. It’s still your August benefit. It’s just landing on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Worth remembering, too: this exact thing happens again in November, so if you budget month to month, it’s not a bad idea to jot that down now while it’s fresh.

SSDI: It Comes Down to Your Birthday
SSDI doesn’t move around based on holidays the way SSI does. Instead, your payment date is tied to when you were born.

VA Disability: Same Rule, Different Agency
VA disability works on its own calendar, run by the VA rather than the SSA, but the logic is basically identical. Payments go out on the 1st of the month. Your disability rating decides how much lands in your account, not when.
Since August 1 is a Saturday, the VA moves things up a couple of days.
