Outshine Fruit Bars Recall: Check Your Freezer for Glass Contamination

If you’ve got a stash of refreshing fruit bars chilling in your freezer to beat the summer heat, you might want to pause for a quick second.

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. has just announced a voluntary nationwide recall for select flavors of Outshine Fruit Bars due to a pretty alarming issue: the potential presence of glass.

Here is everything you need to know about which products are affected, what to check for, and how to get your money back.

Which Outshine Fruit Bars Are Affected?

The good news is that this recall doesn’t apply to every Outshine product on the shelves. It is strictly limited to specific lots of 6-count, 2.5-ounce boxes across five specific flavors:

  • Strawberry (UPC: 041548610047) — Best-by dates: Sept. 30, 2027; Oct. 31, 2027; Nov. 30, 2027

  • Watermelon (UPC: 041548413624) — Best-by dates: June 30, 2027; July 21, 2027

  • Grape (UPC: 041548244044 or 041548000121) — Best-by dates: July 31, 2027; Sept. 30, 2027; Oct. 31, 2027

  • Tangerine (UPC: 041548612041) — Best-by date: Oct. 31, 2027

  • Black Cherry — Check your boxes for matching lot details if you have this flavor on hand.

Note: No other sizes, varieties, or flavor lines of Outshine bars are included in this recall.

Why Was the Recall Issued?

Dreyer’s issued the voluntary recall after discovering a risk of foreign material contamination with glass. While the thought of glass in your favorite frozen snack is definitely scary, there is some reassurance: as of the announcement, no injuries or illnesses have been reported linked to these batches.

The company is pulling the products out of an abundance of caution to ensure consumer safety.

What Should You Do If You Have Them?

If you find any of these recalled boxes sitting in your freezer, don’t panic, but take action right away:

  1. Do Not Eat Them: Skip the snack and keep everyone in the house away from the affected boxes.

  2. Return or Discard: You can either safely throw the items away or bring the box back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

  3. Reach Out If Needed: If you have any specific questions about the recall process, you can email Dreyer’s customer service directly at [email protected].
